ALEXANDRIA, VA – Today, the Honest Elections Project released its 2026 Safeguarding Our Elections: Critical Reforms to Secure Voter Integrity and Rebuild Confidence in American Elections report. The report details 14 policies that state government officials should implement to enhance election integrity, which are the following:
1. Stop foreign influence in elections.2. Require documentary proof of citizenship to vote and end noncitizen voting.3. Speed up voter roll maintenance.4. Investigate and prosecute election crimes.5. Ban Ranked-Choice Voting.6. Require Voter ID for every ballot.7. Ensure prompt and accurate election results.8. Consolidate election dates.9. Protect the integrity of the voter registration process.10. Require transparency and robust post-election audits of election processesand procedures.11. End ballot trafficking and protect vulnerable mail ballots.12. Secure laws for early and mail voting.13. Block “Zuck Bucks 2.0” and other private election funding schemes.14. Ensure that elected lawmakers write election laws.
In addition, Honest Elections Project released seven new model bills that correspond with the report to provide guidance for state lawmakers to further secure election integrity ahead of the 2026 midterms.
