Washington, D.C.—The Honest Elections Project released the following statement in response to reports of a possible case of arson targeting a ballot drop box in Baldwin Park.

“This is reprehensible. If this case is determined to be an arson, it should be fully investigated and the perpetrators should be brought to justice. We cannot tolerate attacks on the integrity of the voting process. Drop boxes are generally designed to be tamper-resistant, but this incident underscores that jurisdictions cannot take the security of these boxes for granted. Protecting citizens’ votes is of paramount importance.”
