Alexandria, VA – Today, Honest Elections Project released a report showing vote by mail rejection rates in Texas rapidly declining following the first implementation of voter ID requirements in 2021.
Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project, released the following statement:
“Voter ID is a necessary safeguard to bolstering the integrity of our elections. As shown in this study, once citizens and election officials were used to the new policy, voter ID requirements had little to no effect on vote-by-mail rejection rates.
“Further, a case can be made that Texas Democrats’ temper tantrum which ultimately failed to prevent passage of the voter ID requirement, but significantly delayed it, deprived election officials crucial time to get up to speed on how the new policy should be implemented. Fortunately, election officials ultimately adapted following the March 2022 primaries and proved that voter ID requirements make it easy to vote and hard to cheat.”
