WASHINGTON, DC – Jason Snead, executive director of the Honest Elections Project, released the following statement responding to the ongoing wait for results in key states, chiefly Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
“As vote tallying proceeds through its second full day, one thing is becoming clear: this experience should not be repeated in future elections. The unready rush to mail-in voting, last-second partisan litigation to strip away crucial voting rules and safeguards, and evidently inadequate preparation in Philadelphia and other areas have slowed the reporting of results to a crawl.
Voters will doubtless demand future reforms to ensure that the voting process is orderly, credible, and secure. But for the moment, the best action for Americans to take is to show patient resolve: patience to ensure that every lawful vote is counted, and the determined resolve to see that the final results are lawful, honest, and free of fraud.”
