Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project, released the following statement:

“Honest Elections Project is disappointed by the recent federal court decision to strike down common sense voter ID requirements adopted by Texas to protect mail-in-voting. States have the responsibility to secure their elections. Photo ID laws are among the most basic and most popular safeguards: According to recent HEP Action polling almost 90% of Americans want every voter to show a photo ID when they vote.

“This is yet another example of the left’s strategy to gum up the courts with countless lawsuits based on fringe legal theories, bankrolled by millions of dollars of dark money, targeted at activist judges eager to legislate from the bench. It is our hope that this ruling be reversed on appeal, so that Texas voters may continue to benefit from fair laws that make it easy to vote and hard to cheat.”
