WASHINGTON, DC – New results from an Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll show strong bipartisan support in Georgia for election reforms that focus on enhancing ballot safeguards, including 74% of Georgia voters who favor requiring voter identification to cast an absentee ballot.
Jason Snead, executive director of the Honest Elections Project, issued the following statement:
“Preserving the credibility of democracy is not a partisan issue. When the average American is asked to choose between bolstering voting safeguards or wiping them away, it isn’t even close: by wide margins, voters want to protect elections from fraud and corruption. They know that voting is about more than casting a ballot. Voting rights hinge on election laws that make it easy to vote, but hard to cheat. It is time for the opponents of secure elections to check their politics at the door and work to deliver what voters want: secure, accessible, and honest elections.”
